With all the snow, salt, mud during the winter, our house easily becomes and big sloppy mess. Here are some tips and things you can do to help you make your entryway more winter friendly so it doesn’t look like a muddy mess.
Shoe storage
Well, first things first: boots. These hold up all the snow and salt and are covered in mud sometimes, so take them off as soon as you come in the door that way you don’t make a mess of your floors. Consider getting some boot trays, these a great solution but you can also use a small rubber mat. Just stow it away under a table or tucked in the nearest corner to the door. Once they are dry take them to your closet.
Coats, mittens and scarves
These can get chaotic. An easy recommended practice is to always hang them up in your closet or coat hanger near by the entrance. If you’re constantly loosing your pair of mittens consider having clothes pins in your closet to keep the stored together with your scarf.
Organized by person not type
If you have multiple family members, it can be helpful to keep supplies organized by person, rather than by type. For example, keep all of your son’s cold-weather supplies in one basket and your daughter’s in another. That way when you are getting them ready you can just easily pull out their basket with belongings and get out the door quicker.
Keep it clean
Sometimes no matter hoe much you prepare there’s still sludge spilled in an area, easily clean this by keeping some cleaning tools near by. We suggest keeping some basic cleaning supplies nearby, such as a spray bottle filled with a basic cleaning solution, a few rags and a mop. The more accessible this is, the easier is to clean up messes.
