Hot water systems: what is the best choice?

It is challenging to say which is the best water heater. But different products can meet the specific needs of each user, with reasonable variations regarding consumption, capacity, dimensions, and practicality, among other variables.

Gas Water Heaters

In these models, the water gradually heats up as it passes through. The heating is produced by the passage of water through a system known as serpentine located around a combustion chamber.

Gas Heaters with Tank

In these models, the heating is produced by the passage of water through the same serpentine system. The difference is that they have an accumulation tank, where water already heated in boilers is stored, which is usually installed on roofs. The fact of having a higher capacity than the heater without deposit allows it to satisfy different points of consumption, or a point of high demand such as a bathtub, for example. Its size, however, is much larger than those without deposits.

Electric heaters without the deposit

They are very popular but have more disadvantages. They are less effective than those with a deposit and are usually installed directly at the point of use. Its advantages are the low cost and ease of installation. Electric showers, faucet heaters (installed under or above the sink) and the like constitute this type of heater.

They are usually called boilers. They have, like gas tanks, a large storage cylinder. The water accumulates inside this cylinder and remains hot thanks to electrical resistance. The advantages of this system are its efficiency in the production of hot water since the water quickly reaches the point of consumption and the opportunity to supply outlets. The disadvantage of this system is the high energy consumption since it works continuously to keep the water warm. To reduce energy consumption, however, you can install a timer that activates the system at any scheduled time.
