When deposits accumulate in a water heater
The hot water tank can act as a sedimentation chamber for solids suspended in the water. Therefore, it is not uncommon for hard water deposits to accumulate in the bottom of the tank. It is necessary to drain about 20 liters of water from the hot water tank each month, through the discharge valve. If any solid deposits accumulate, a rumble may occur. There is no danger with this.
Safety or relief valve
Verification of the status of the safety valve must be carried out at least once a year. That is necessary because in case the lighter is on for much longer than it should, all that accumulated pressure has an escape door and does not burst the pipes. This should not have a scale in the rubber seat, to make sure that the valve works freely and that it allows the passage of several liters through the discharge pipe (if it has one). Make sure the discharge water is directed to an open drain. If the pressure relief valve in the hot water tank is periodically discharged, this may be due to thermal expansion in a “closed” water system or the use of pressurizing pumps. Never cover the outlet of the relief valve.
Magnesium anode inspection
The artifacts are equipped with a magnesium bar designed to prolong the life of the tank. This bar is gradually consumed to protect the tartar tank, eliminating or minimizing corrosion. Do not remove the magnesium rod from the tank except for inspection and/or replacement since its removal will shorten the life of the tank. The anode must be removed from the hot water tank for inspection at least once a year and must be replaced when it has more than 6 inches of exposed central wire at either end of the rod or when its general section is reduced to less than 0.4 inches.
