Treat your clothes with care!
We seldom read the labels of our clothes to see what care should be taken when washing the garment and this is a big mistake.
It is important to recognize the type of fabric each garment has because of the complexity and structure fabrics have. With this information, we know how to take care of them to avoid damaging the fabrics.
Each fabric has a different treatment, but almost none allow bleach or sun drying.
Types of fabric:
Natural (cotton, wool, linen, silk)
Synthetic (polyester, nylon, acrylic)
Artificial (a mixture of natural with synthetic ).
Natural fibers have greater durability and one of their characteristics is that they have a high absorption of water, so their drying is slower. On the contrary, the synthetic ones, absorb little water and dry quickly. But regardless of the type of fiber, there are general recommendations, preferably all clothes should be dried in the shade, exposed to the sun the white becomes yellow and the color fades.
What to take into consideration before washing clothes
- Type of fiber
- Color
- Level of dirt
According to this you separate the clothes and avoid damages.
Special care for different fabrics:
- 100% nylon: can be washed by hand or machine. You can use bleach, you should not iron. It can be dry cleaned or dried in a machine but on low.
- 100% silk: it must be washed by hand, but it is better to dry-clean if it has interlinings. Bleach should not be used, should be dried in the shade and the iron should be warm.
- 100% wool: must be washed by hand, and cannot be washed by machine. You should not use bleach, medium iron and never put it in a dryer.
- 100% cotton: can be machine washed. Bleach should not be used and the iron should be warm.
- 65% polyester and 35% cotton: can be machine washed. You cannot use bleach, the iron must be medium and dry on low.
- 80% acrylic and 20% wool: can be machine washed and also allows dry cleaning. Bleach should not be used, it should not be ironed and the drying should be in the shade horizontally.
