The real use of the lower drawer below your oven
The drawer in your kitchen range is not for storing pots or pans. The truth is that it has a purpose that you probably did not know about.
Most people have a stove/oven that has a mysterious drawer at the bottom, a space that we normally use to store other objects related to the kitchen such as pans, pots, trays, chopping boards, among other things. But what would you say to me if I tell you that the warmer-drawer has a very different purpose?
Until today many saw this drawer as a simple space to store multiple objects. Sometimes producing a mess with things accumulated that perhaps will not be used again in a long time. But the warmer-drawer is not random and was destined by the manufacturers for a noble task: Keep our food warm.
Tips to use the warmer-drawer:
- Use it to keep cooked food at a serving temperature for a long period of time.
- Use it when food is hot.
- Do not use it to heat cold food, unless it is dry cereal, crisping crackers, or chips.
- Some stoves have a button you press to start functioning. For example, use low for pies, medium for casseroles, and high for meat.
- To crisp food leave it uncovered.
- Remove any spoons, forks, or other utensils before placing a container in the drawer.
- The warmer-drawer only uses 400 to 500 watts of electricity to keep food warm.
