How to place foods in the refrigerator
The way you put food in the fridge can affect your health and also your pocket.
Place foods according to the cold they need
The raw meat and fish go in the lower shelf, usually under the drawers of vegetables and fruits because it has the lowest temperatures. Dairy products and eggs go in the upper shelves since it is colder.
Use Proper Containers
Never place sausages into a half-open container or, much worse, a half-eaten can (it can be a real danger if it oxidizes). Containers exist to store food, using markers and post-its to record the date of expiration or preparation. Containers must be clean and in good condition.
No tomatoes, garlic, potatoes, onions, or avocados inside the fridge
The cold damages the membranes of tomatoes and causes their pulp to become tasteless. Nor should we put garlic, potatoes, onions, avocados or bananas in the fridge.
What should be placed on the door?
Every time we open the refrigerator 35% of the frozen air is lost, and the food that is in the door is more exposed to this change in temperature. Therefore, here we place drinks, sauces, or butter, which hold well with less cold.
Let the air run
There must be space between the products so that the air flows. The food with proper ventilation is better preserved, and also, we will not need as much energy to cool the refrigerator.
