The Perfect Slice Machine
Toasters are the ideal machine for creating the perfect slice of toast. This is its primary function and essential all that it was made to do. Due to the frequency of use, the toaster is the most likely kitchen appliance to break down.
There are two primary reasons for this:
- Toasters are perceived as machines that are cheaply built and made to be disposable, so people fail to take proper care when they use them.
- Failures are usually not a result of cheap construction, but of poor maintenance or a build up of crumbs and food that interferes with the functions of the toaster.
Most toasters have a crumb tray at the bottom of the device, but many people do not even realize that they exist.
Toaster Care Tips
If you use your toaster every day, then you will probably need to remove crumbs from the machine at least once a week. Simply unplug the toaster, hold it above the garbage, and open the crumb tray. Once the crumb tray has been emptied, try shaking the toaster to remove food residue from any other parts of the toaster. You could also use a can of compressed air to blow out the machine.
How Does A Toaster Work?
Toasters are fairly simple machines. A piece of bread, or other toastable food, is inserted into the slots at the top of the appliance. Then the carriage and food is lowered by using the lever on the side of the machine.
When it hits the bottom, the carriage snaps into position and the heating process is engaged. Depending on the setting of the toaster, the appliance will heat and toast the food until it hits the limit of the setting.
Then the toast pops!
