Anyone who works hard to earn money, knows that not being careful with their spending can add up! Wouldn’t you love to save a couple or even several bucks in your laundry room? Lets us share some simple tips you can use to save money when doing your house laundry.
1. Only wash full loads. The best way you can start saving is by waiting until you have enough clothes to run a full load. If you are desperate to wash a couple of items then go ahead and soak them in a bucket or hand wash them then hang to dry.
2. Measure out the amount of detergent. Take some seconds to actually use the guide on your detergent’s instructions to guide yourself into the right amount needed for each load. You’ll know you are using too much detergent if your clothes ever come out of the washer feeling stiff.
3. Cut out the softener and the dryer sheets. Yes, really. All your clothes really need is some detergent, so cut out on the extras. Also, if your clothes are seriously stained search the web on how to remove that specific stain because more often than not you have tackle those stains without spending, hint, look inside your pantry.
4. Avoid over-drying your clothes. A full load takes about 40 minutes to dry, so make sure you know how long your clothes take. Don’t just assume your clothes need a 60 minute cycle.
5. Hang dry as much as you can. Whether or not you are concerned about your electricity bill, hang drying your clothes will help you save lots of money you didn’t know you could save, because using your dryer is costly. So invest in a clothes drying rack!
6. Once your clothes are clean, put them away. Put them away right way! Because if not we tend to get them mixed with unwashed clothes and you could accidentally be washing clothes you haven’t even soiled! So it is best to hang them, fold them and place clothes in its respective place to avoid this confusion.
7. Ask, “Does this really need to be washed?”. Sometimes as adults we don’t really dirty our clothes with a one time wear. You could, at the end of the day, inspect your piece of clothing and see it if smells and look clean enough to wear one more time. If yes put it inside your closet, it not throw in your laundry basket.
8. Own fewer clothes. Owning too many clothes adds more work and clutter. If you reduce the amount of clothing you own this will reflect in the amount of time you spend washing, drying and hanging.
