Do electrical appliances consume different amounts of energy?

Yes, it depends on its energy efficiency and how long we use it.

The term “energy efficiency” is very important due to global overheating, and saving electricity in our home will allow us to also save on the electricity bill.

Below are five tips to save electricity at home:

Lighting:

Take advantage of natural light to the fullest, during the day. Change all the lights for low-energy ones, because they consume four times less energy and last up to ten times longer, and still turn them off when you’re not in the room.

Appliances:

Disconnect everything you do not use. The television, computer, radio, the battery of the cellular when finishing loading it, blenders, microwaves, etc. 

Refrigerator:

It’s one of the appliances which uses more energy. To allow air circulation, install it away from sunlight, stove, water heater and other sources of heat. We must also observe that the door closes hermetically so that cold air does not escape, and avoid putting hot food in it.  All these are habits that increase the energy consumption of this appliance.

Washing machine:

You have to try to fill it with the maximum number of clothes indicated since if you put less, it will use more water and electricity.  If you put more than what is allowed, the clothes will be badly washed and there is a risk of forcing the motor. It is also important to use cold water to wash and use the dryer only in the rainy season when the clothes cannot be dried quickly in the open air.
