Common Problems with the Ice Maker
An ice maker is a machine to make ice. This is located in the freezer sector of a refrigerator, although it is also possible to find it independently. The difference to the normal process of making ice, which is simply freezing water, is that the ice maker produces ice with moving water, which consequently removes air and solids in suspension. This results in ice of great firmness and in a very short time. The other way is the traditional one, that of the freezer, which operates by transferring the heat from the inside to the environment. A fundamental part of its operation is the use of a refrigerant gas, also used in industrial refrigerators, among others.
Typical Problems
* Overflowing water and dripping from the edges. Check the adjustment screw, it may be too far outside.
* Does not throw ice. This can be caused by two things: a. The lever is in poor condition and has to be repaired or changed, depending on the model. b. The resistance is cut. Take a trial test and if it is in bad condition you need to change the whole ice-maker.
* No water enters the system. a. a Cut stopcock. b. Valve burned or clogged with dirt.
Before calling for help
Technicians advise filling the ice maker manually, to know if it is working properly, if after an hour or so, you check and you find out that the ice cubes have fallen into the tank, it is an indication that the fault is in the outdoor ice maker.
