- There are several types of bread toasters, the most traditional is the vertical one. Placing the bread in the slot of the vertical toaster and lowering the lever activates a resistor, which converts the electric current into the infrared ray, heating an internal wire made of nickel and chrome. The wires with infrared radiation reach a high temperature in a short time, responsible for removing moisture from the bread and toasting the outside.
- Toasters have a time selector that determines when the bread is ready and toasted, that is when it jumps. When time runs out, the internal spring is released, which causes the base to rise and the toasted bread to pop up.
There are other types of toasters that are horizontal and their operation is even easier
In the horizontal toaster or toaster oven, the bread is placed on a rack that has a resistance below. It produces infrared radiation at the power that is selected, removing the water from the bread and toasting its exterior. With some horizontal toasters, you may have to turn the bread, or it will burn.
