What is a Hand Blender?
It is also called an immersion or stick blender. The main purpose is to grind, blend, or even chop the ingredients being used. It can be held by hand, and some can be used while a pot or pan is on the stove. This is very useful because it does not require a special vessel for processing the food.
What to Consider When Buying a Good Immersion Blender
-
Power
The most important thing about this appliance, which was formerly called a “third arm,” is its power which, like many other small appliances, is not specified when you buy it, and it’s very important. Some low-powered stick blenders are not even useful to make mayonnaise or something similar because, being so weak, they do not have enough capacity to emulsify the egg with the amount of oil around it. You can even overheat it by simply grinding a vegetable or fruit puree. You might find a cheap one with only 550 watts of power.
2. Steel-made
Be sure to buy a stick handler made totally of steel – that is to say, with the upper and lower body of this material, others are made only of plastic or only carry the plastic upper body, and the inferior one – that is the one that takes the blades and is the crushing part – of steel. However, it is preferable that they are entirely made of steel and that the crusher can be removed to clean it, since the upper one, which carries the motor, cannot get wet.
3. Rod and chopper
It is important that they carry two other accessories: a rod that will serve to beat egg whites, and a chopper. If the appliance has enough power, your chopper will chop ham, sausage, and even ice!
