Today we share a great way to tackle your dirty oven and getting it squeaky clean when you are determined to keeping your kitchen tidy.
To begin with, you should consider the following questions, since this will determine what and how you clean it.
- Does the oven have an automatic cleaning feature?
- Is the oven electric or gas?
- Which parts of the oven are removable?
Cleaning the stove top
First remove the oven racks then place them in the sink full of warm, soapy water and scrub them until they are clean. You can use liquid dish soap on the racks. If there are any difficult to clean spots on the burners or racks, you can leave them to soak in the soapy water for about 20 to 30 minutes to loosen any baked-on food.
If you have a traditional gas stove
Remove the burner covers and drip trays and place them in the sink full of warm water. You can use the water you used to clean the racks, or replace if it’s too filthy. Do not try to use a knife or sharp object to scrape them since they are metal they will easily scratch.
If you have an electric stove
Before you begin cleaning the stovetop, make sure that it is completely cool in order to avoid burning yourself. Then wipe the stove top with a multipurpose kitchen cleaner and a rag.
Cleaning the oven
The process you need to use to clean the oven depends on whether or not your oven is self-cleaning.
If it is self-cleaning
For a self-cleaning oven, it is basically a two-step process.
- Lock the oven door and select the option for self-cleaning.
- Let the oven do its magic.
When the cleaning cycle is complete, any food in the bottom of the oven should be removed.
If it is not self-cleaning
- First, remove any loose crumbs from the oven using a rag.
- Next, spray the oven with your choice of oven cleaner and follow the directions on the can.
Cleaning the surface
Usually we tend to forget to clean the knobs and all the outside surface areas of the oven, to do so wipe them with a rag and use an all-purpose kitchen cleaner.
