Styles of Dishwashers
Recently, we covered some of the features and functions of built-in dishwashers and dishdrawers. In this article, we will discuss two other options that are available on the market.
Dishwasher Models
Free-Standing Dishwashers
This is a good option for a dishwasher that can be placed anywhere. It does not require any type of special plumbing installation, except for an easy connection to a faucet. This is a good option for people who move frequently and don’t want to leave their dishwasher behind. It can be easily moved around the home and simply needs to be wheeled close to the sink in order to operate.
These units are nearly identical to built-in dishwashers, except that they are much more portable and require a different type of water connection. Some models include countertops or cutting boards on the top to create extra counter space in the kitchen.
Countertop Dishwashers
Countertop dishwashers are typically smaller and are the most portable dishwasher that someone can own. They simply need an open space that is close enough to a sink for access to water. This is an easy way to clean dishes and the unit can be easily stored elsewhere after use.
This type of dishwasher is good for a small family and it cleans well if plates are not covered with excessive amounts of food residue or extremely old, crusted, tough-to-remove grime.
The capacity is much smaller than other units, but it will adequately clean a modest table setting for four people. Some of the cookware may not fit properly, but this is the sacrifice for great portability. Depending on the model there is a variety of washing cycles and heated drying options.
If you are unable to accommodate a larger dishwasher, the countertop dishwasher is the next, best option.
