Avoid headaches with your garbage disposal
Garbage disposals are significant appliances to have in the kitchen of any home. Biodegradable food removal is easy with the use of garbage disposals. As with other devices in a home, garbage disposals must be properly maintained and used to prevent obstructions or breakdowns. Certain foods are safe for placement and crushing in a garbage disposal.
Garbage disposals are convenient when they work well, but a big headache when they don’t.
Follow these simple steps and avoid blockages in the garbage disposal
Eggshells create tiny granular debris that sticks to sticky debris in the pipe and quickly forms an obstruction in the garbage disposal.
Rice, pasta, and bread will cause problems. They are like some small toys that magically expand to form a fun, large dinosaur after soaking them in water for some time.
These foods tend to leave a starchy residue, which will cause problems. Put in the trash, not down the drain, and you will avoid problems.
Fibrous vegetable like pumpkin, celery, corn husks and certain types of lettuce will wrap around the blades and get stuck, forming a tightly clinging mass that causes resistance.
Fat and oil for cooking: Just as you should not have an excess of fat and oil in your diet, neither should it be in the drains. It adheres to the pipes and hardens, preventing water from flowing freely. Instead of pouring it down the drain, place it in a container with a lid, and then throw the covered container into the trash.
Other foods that should not be placed in a garbage disposal are celery, corn husks, and ears, artichokes, pineapples, and asparagus. Bacon or any other fat in food should not be placed in a garbage disposal, as it may cause blockages. Hot water must be run every time the garbage disposal is on.
