Identifying Common Oven Problems
Many electric ovens operate in a similar manner. This means that it is not too difficult to identify some of the most common oven issues.
Common Electric Oven Problems
No Power
If there is no power to the oven, the first step is to check that it is properly plugged in. If it is connected to a power-supply, then it is possible that the outlet is not functioning or a fuse has been blown. It is also possible that there could be an issue with the electrical cord.
Oven Doesn’t Get Hot
If there is power to the oven, but no heat is being produced, then it is likely the elements of the oven need to be replaced. There could also be a problem with the thermal switch or thermal fuse.
Grill Doesn’t Heat Up
If the light comes on but the part will not heat up, then the grill element requires replacing.
Oven Switches Off
This is usually due to a problem with the thermal switch, but it could also be due to the cooling fan.
Oven Overheats
If the oven is cooking at too high of a temperature or is uncontrollable, then the thermostat likely needs to be replaced.
Oven Door Doesn’t Operate Correctly
This is a simple mechanical issue that could be attributed to a broken or bent hinge. There may also be something in the way of the door.
Items Close To The Oven Are Burning
This is probably the result of heat escaping through bad oven door seals. Check to see the condition of the seal and if it needs replacement.
