Forgot to take the meat or fish out of the freezer?
The microwave is one of the appliances that can’t be missed in our kitchen for its many uses. One of its fantastic functions is to defrost food quickly.
It has happened to all of us that for one reason or another we must defrost food because we forgot to take it out of the freezer the night before. This is where the microwave comes into action, to quickly thaw the food that we are going to use.
Tips to defrost food:
- The key to knowing how to thaw in the microwave is to put the microwave at the minimum possible power for 1-2 minutes, if still frozen, try to separate the pieces without force and reintroduce it again, to the minimum and for the same time.
- As a piece of advice, and if possible, split into small portions what is to be thawed, therefore thawing uniformly and not running the risk that one part will be frozen and another part will not.
- To defrost fish remove the plastic used to wrap it, wash it with water to remove the ice layer and put it in the microwave in a suitable container. Use the defrost option of your microwave for 1 or 2 minutes, and remove it when it is still cold.
- To defrost meat, it is a similar process, to thaw the meat quickly, the first thing you should do is remove the wrapper and place it in a microwave-safe container. Choose the option to thaw for 1-2 minutes, you must cook it immediately afterward, this process is fast, and you lose little of the vitamins and minerals of the meat, which means that it is healthy to thaw in the microwave. But we all know that the best option is to thaw the food the day before.
