Make Significant Savings on Your Power Bill
Along with the fridge, your cooking range is probably one of the most often used appliances in your home. Thus, it can account for a considerable amount of the energy used in your home. The good news is that there are things you can do to cook more efficiently on your range.
The Range Type
The type of cooking appliance that you purchase can make a huge difference in energy savings. We have put together the most common types of ranges available on the market.
Electric Range
An electric range can stay on for an hour at 350 degrees at the cost of roughly two kilowatt-hours of electricity. That’s a very affordable rate. During the winter season, it can help keep your house warm, taking some of the burden off your heater. However, electric units take more time to cool down when turned off, which means your whole house can be affected. This can be a good thing in the cold winter months, but much less so in the summer when your air conditioning is already working overtime.
Gas Range
Gas heats your cooking machine faster and allows greater control over cooking. Gas typically does not heat your entire kitchen as much, either. This means less time waiting around and a cooler house. On the other hand, a gas range is more expensive to buy and install, and though low, there is still a danger of gas leaks.
Convection Range
Convection ranges provide more heat and faster cooking times. However, because of this, cooking times must often be adapted.
