Why does the air conditioner leak?
Let’s see the causes that can lead to the air conditioner dripping and losing water
1. Clogged air conditioner drains
Usually, the domestic air conditioning units have a drain pipe of a not very large diameter, in part, because it leaves the factory with that size and also because it is much easier to handle a small tube than a large one. Even using the tube of a standard diameter for 90% of installations (16 mm diameter), this tube has enough capacity to evacuate all the water that condenses in an air conditioner, but with use, this tube wears out obstructing and completely plugging, making it impossible for water to flow. Since the water that condenses in an air conditioning unit has no force to drag dirt, we can say that this water is “dead water,” that falls by its weight, but that does not have drag pressure. To solve the problem of a clogged drain and if your air conditioner loses water from the front (from the bottom), we will have to locate the drain, and if it is possible to blow it to open it, that way we will prevent the air conditioner from dripping.
2. Dirty air conditioning filters
Dirty filters can cause, among many other faults, drip problems. Another possible cause of why water falls from the air conditioning is because of the filters. The filters are of vital importance for the proper functioning of our equipment since apart from filtering the air, are responsible for many “faults” that do not exist, dripping and falling water is one of those non-existent faults that are produced by the maintenance of deficient air filters.
