In Tips from Experienced Technicians

You may feel it’s a contradiction to wash the dishwasher, but this appliance doesn’t wash itself every time you run a cycle.

Dishwashers need a routine cleaning, just like every large and frequently used appliance in your home. With Thanksgiving and the Holidays almost upon us, this is important to consider. Before you start loading up your dishwasher back to back during the next couple of months, make sure it will work to its fullest potential. Unless you’re planning on adding a new dishwasher to your gift list. Or, you’re planning on having us do one of our famous SAME DAY appliance repair service; in the middle of your Thanksgiving celebration. We do that, but you probably don’t want us around on days where you’re not suppose to worry, about anything.

“The better you take care of your dishwasher now,
the better it will take care of you during the Holidays!”

Follow these simple steps to stay on top of your kitchen game during this holiday season.

How to clean your dishwasher

We don’t always take the time to scrape and rinse food from plates and bowls before putting them in the dishwasher. Some would say this defeats the purpose of owning one. With every wash, small bits of food, as well as grease and soap scum, will inevitably cling to the corners of the dishwasher and build deposits in crevices around the door.  Just follow our pro tips on how to clean your dishwasher, and you’ll have a better chance of not needing our expert services.

  1. Use a small brush, dip it into hot soapy water. Go around the door and scrub all the grooves and crevices of the rubber seal. Don’t forget the bottom of the door and the hinges.
  2. You may find you need to use an abrasive cleaner to remove dried grime.
  3. Using a dish sponge, wipe off all the dirt you have scrubbed.
  4. Pull out the racks and examine the drain area. Wipe around and make sure there are no chunks that can plug the drain and cause damage to the pump.
  5. Then, filling a dishwasher safe cup with white vinegar and place it on the top rack. Using the hottest water temperature, make the dishwasher run through a cycle. The dishwasher must be empty, except for the cup of vinegar.
