What can we do with a food processor, but not with a blender?
There are differences between a food processor and a blender. The blender is a device that is composed of a small base where the engine is, and a large glass where small blades are. It is usually used to make smoothies, creams, and soups. In other words, it is used to crush wet foods until making them liquid, or to mix foods with some liquid.
The blender is specialized for making smoothies of various fruits in water or milk.
The function of a food processor is to streamline our time in the kitchen and facilitate the preparation of ingredients: grating, chopping, grinding and mixing. Also, it will allow us to make nut butter, which we could not accomplish with practically any other appliance.
The main difference is that a food processor processes the food dry, that is, we do not use it to make smoothies or soups, but instead we process dry food and then add it to the liquid.
The blender needs the food being processed to flow through the blades; that is, it needs liquid.
With a blender, we can also grind or chop dry foods such as nuts, coffee, or vegetables, but the blender has no options for different types of cutting, as in a processor that gives us different options of thicknesses and sizes depending on the blade that we use.
The food processor has a more extensive base where the motor is located and a large bottle with an opening on the side to deposit the food that we are going to process. It also has several discs that are used according to the food we are going to prepare.
In a processor, we can grate and filter any vegetable, chop food, chop grains and seeds and prepare mixtures and masses, make butter from seeds, ice cream, and frozen fruit sorbets, jams of dried fruits, and much more.
